Summer and exercise: What we need to be careful about

Exercising in the summer is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor activities, but it also comes with certain risks that should not be ignored.

High temperatures, humidity, and intense sunlight can affect performance and cause health issues such as heat exhaustion or dehydration.

The first and most important thing to pay attention to is proper hydration. The body loses more fluids through sweating, so it's essential to drink water before, during, and after exercise. It's also a good idea to avoid caffeine or alcohol, as they contribute to dehydration.

Choosing the right time to exercise is equally important. Morning or late afternoon, when temperatures are milder, are the safest times. Using sunscreen, wearing lightweight and light-colored breathable clothing, and a hat can help protect against overheating and sun exposure.

Finally, it’s important to listen to our bodies. If we feel dizzy, nauseous, have a headache, or feel weak, we should stop exercising and find a cool place to rest. Exercising in the summer can be beneficial and enjoyable, as long as it’s done with proper planning and caution.
